Shadows of a Closed Curve

Abstract for the Combinatorics Seminar
2016 February 16

A coordinate shadow of a geometric object A is the orthogonal projection of A to a coordinate hyperplane. In this talk I will show that any simple closed curve in Euclidean space can have at most two shadows that are simple paths.

This is joint work with Heuna Kim, Luis Montejano, and Edgardo Roldán-Pensado.
